About Juliann
Juliann has been playing bass since she was 13, starting at the Center for Performing and Fine Arts which is a pre-professional performing and fine arts middle/high school. Around this time she also began taking private bass and rock band lessons at Richards Guitar Studio in Aston, PA (if you've somehow ended up here from the Brandywine Valley and you're looking for music lessons, check them out!) During her time in both programs, Juliann studied jazz, classical, and rock music.
Juliann then attended York College of Pennsylvania and obtained her B.S. in Music Industry & Recording Technology. Here, she continued her study of jazz, classical, and rock music, while learning the business and tech of the music industry. Juliann heavily focused on the skills needed to become a commercial player like; performance, entrepreneurship, industry business know-how and technical playing ability. During undergrad is also when she began playing professionally in multiple bands and gigging throughout PA, NY, NJ and MD.
Then, Juliann obtained her MBA with a focus in Music Business from Southern New Hampshire University in partnership with Berklee College of Music. Getting her MBA took her business and industry knowledge to the next level, even allowing her to teach Intro to Music Business at Delaware County Community College. During this program, she continued to gig as much as possible, further developing her technical and performance abilities.

She is currently offering lessons on bass guitar, music theory (jazz and/or classical depending on student needs or preference), music business, and performance. Keep scrolling to see more in depth descriptions, but these lessons can be taught at any level and be tailored to the student.
Also, please keep in mind that all lessons are taught virtually through Google Meet (its free don't worry).
Lesson Descriptions
Bass lesson: These are mainly focused on bass guitar technique and musicality, but may include music theory as needed depending on the student's need/interest. I teach virtually any style and tailor the teaching method to the student. For example, some students work really well out of a book, while others learn concepts better through repertoire.
Music Theory lesson: These lessons do not require an instrument or involve playing (I may recommend that you use a keyboard or keyboard app to visualize concepts). I am well versed in both Jazz/Popular and Classical theory and can tech either depending on need/interest. These lessons will be more akin to a class, but with specialized instruction.
Music Business lesson: The default way this will be taught is a combination of lecture and conversation. I have developed a music business course that I taught at a community college and will be using that. It focuses on how streaming services pay creators, the different organizations that allow creators to get paid, and publishing, licensing, and copyright. However, we can discuss your current knowledge level and what you're looking for up front and tailor it if need be.
Music Performance lesson: This is for those seeking help with stage presence and performance. We will develop your stage personality, moves, style, and anything else you're struggling with. Please keep in mind that these lessons focus on the popular music sphere (rock, pop, funk, punk, etc etc) and not so much on classical.
